ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Growing up we were fortunate to be taught scripture stories at home, at church, and for some even in school. We thrilled over the courage of Daniel facing the lions, David challenging Goliath, and Rebecca following the instructions of the Lord. We marvelled at both the great deeds and lack of judgement in Samson. We enjoyed the sense of humour and irony displayed by Elijah in his showdown with the proponents of Baal. We loved the stories from the Old Testament, and also and especially the events that surrounded the miraculous birth of Jesus, His mission, sacrifice, and victory over death.

Unfortunately most of the stories were just that, stories – perhaps not exactly like fairy tales in our minds, but certainly similar in terms of entertainment with the occasional portraying of a moral. Sure, we might have wanted to be like Joshua, but that had more to do with being a mighty leader and warrior than with being a mighty follower of God. The parables and all else in the scriptures were often merely stories.

Eventually we realised that these stories, and all other scripture text, could be read in a much more personal way. Doing so allowed us to avoid common pitfalls, become more supportive and kind to others, feel more often the comforting influence of God in our lives, and understand better the role of Christ and His atoning sacrifice.

We never thought we'd be involved in a podcast. We're really enjoying how much we're learning because of it, though hoping that shortly it will take a less ridiculous amount of time to produce one short episode!

The main presenter has lived multiple years in Nederland, New Zealand, Arizona and the UAE. He has formal qualifications in Business Management, Catholicism, Education and Sociology, and is an involved member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He and his wife have enjoyed and are enjoying raising their family together.

Others you hear are family and friends.

Because we want the focus to be on the message, we're deliberately remaining somewhat anonymous for now. We do hope that you enjoy the podcast enough that we'll soon come to sound like long-time friends.
